Sewage odor in basement

I have a noticeable sewer odor in my basement whenever my washing machine drains. The washing machine is in the basement. This is a relatively new problem.

I've read another thread explaining that I'll probably need a plumber to get to the bottom of this one. That's fine, but how soon do I need to get this looked at and what is the worst case scenario here? I can't afford for the sewer to back up into my basement.

Thanks,
Rick

Sewage odor in basement

is there a floor drain in the basement that possibly all the water in the trap has dried up and letting the sewer gas into the basement when the washer is used. how about some photos of the washer and the plumbing in the basement.
