Sewage ejector w. horizontal run?

Hi.

I am making plans for a basement bathroom. Because the main waste line leaves the house about a foot above the basement slab, I know I will need to use an ejector pump. What I would like to do is run the waste line from the bathroom under the concrete slab to a nearby closet which will hold the basin and ejector pump. This closet is about 18 feet from where the waste line leaves the basement. Is it OK to pump the waste up several feet in the closet, then have a horizontal run (with proper pitch, of course) that brings the waste long a wall over to where the waste line exits? Or does the ejector pump need to be right below the main waste stack?

The real annoyance is that we already have an ejector pump outside the house that pumps waste up to the town sewer- but for some reason the pump is situated above the level of the basement slab!

Thanks,

RAH
