septic smell in the house...

I am trying to narrow down a problem with the septic lines in an old cabin. for about a year now, a septic odor comes from the bathroom after someone takes a shower. Sometimes it wont do it for months than itll do it for days... It seams that the smell is around the base of the toilet. Theres no smell in the crawl space where all the lines are. the septic has never been pumped but its only 5 years old. This smell only started about a year ago. Any Ideas??

Start with changing the wax ring under the toilet.
It's about a $4.00 fix.
Also can be a dry trap in the sink or shower. Just add some water to the drains.

Just wondering... If it were a dry trap, wouldnt the smell come from the opening in the sink or tub where the dry trap is? As far as the wax ring goes, do they leak the septic smell with out actualy leaking?

The gas will take the source of least resistance, and yes it is possible that gas will leak out before the liquid will.
