Sediment in hot water lines

We have very little HOT water coming out of most of our sink and bathtub faucets. We believe that it is sediment from the hot water heater. We didn't know you were supposed to drain the water heater to get rid of sediment. Is there a way to flush this through the pipes or do we need to have someone replace the hot water pipes going to each faucet?

You need to FLUSH your water heater at least once a year, that means that you put a hose on the drain down at the bottom of the
heater and run the water under pressure until it drains clear; turn the water heater off first

Do you know what kind of piping you have (galvanized, copper, plastic)? If you have galvanized, that could be the problem.

Copper

Then I guess you need to flush your water heater. It's not that difficult.

Have you tried to remove the screen filters on the end of the faucet? I bet is they plugged not the piping.

If it was the faucets we would be having trouble with cold water, right?

If the faucets were common to one outlet, yes it would appear to be no pressure on both. But did you try and clean the screens? just unscrew the end and see whats there. If you have sediment in would surely be there to.
