Sealing a water line to the back of fridge.

I am pretty inexperienced in this kind of stuff, and the guys who installed the fridge never installed the water line. What do I use to seal this? I screwed it on tight and turned on the water and it didn't hold a seal obviously... Thanks for the help!

You can not use the brass ferrule on plastic tubing---you need a tubing liner(looks like a hollow brass rivet and slips inside the tube) and a nylon ferrule---

Any hardware store will have those two items.

Cut the end of the hose off (including the ferrule). Slide on a new ferrule and tighten it to the fitting. It looks look the last time it was tightened that the hose was not held straight... see how the ferrule is cockeyed?

Go gentle on the tightening ... Only enough to keep it from leaking.

If it was my project- I'd dispose of the plastic line and use a 1/4" braided ice maker line.

I just did a service call on one of those plastic lines last week. The kitchen now has pretty, new flooring due to water damage and a nice flex line. Just saying.....

when using plastic tubing you need the little brass tube that inserts into the end of the plastic so the ferrule doesn't crush it. most of the brass fittings i see now come with the little brass tube.

Looks like the stiffener is missing on the inside of the tube in that pic.
