saniflo connection question

I am installing a sanipro system in the near future and I want to check if this will work. I have a 1.5" stack that runs from my 3" sewer tie in the basement out through the roof. Currently my kitchen sink ties into this line as it's drain/vent. The sink has a P trap then runs through the floor connecting to the 1.5" 'vent' line via a wye. It looks as though someone remodled and didnt lower the piping in the wall so they bypassed it by running the plumbing into the basement.

What I would like to do is run my waste from the saniflo to the cast iron hub (simple enough). as for venting, can I tie in my sink with the saniflo vent and run them to the existing 1.5" vent above where the upstairs kitchen sink attaches?

I have attached a diagram to help show what I am talking about. Last time I tried to add a pic it turned out very small...sorry if this does the same.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Jesse

saniflo connection question

in my opinion yes it will work it would be better if you could tie into vent above flood rim of upstairs sink but that is probably not an option also depending on how far sink is from saniflo you might not need to run vent for the sink that dumps into saniflo

saniflo connection question

Why not email Saniflo and ask them?

saniflo connection question

If you look at the saniflo documentation it'll say that you need to vent your unit 6 inches above the flood rim of the highest fixture on the stack. In your case that would be much more difficult than what you're proposing.

On a more positive note, I recently installed a saniflo unit in my basement and faced a similiar issue as you. Maybe it'll provide some relief that I vented the unit much like your proposing and haven't faced any issues. Everything flushes and drains exactly as it should. As a matter of fact, my kitchen sink drains into the stack above where I vented it. This is a wet vent (I believe). There is never any gurgling or nasty smells in the kitchen sink, so everything works just fine.

I think you can install the unit just as your proposing and be comfortable with it. But realizing it's not the manufacturer specs and probably not to code either?

saniflo connection question

gilbo125, Im glad to hear everything is working well for you. It makes me feel better about my proposed install. I guess I could always install a AAV in the kitchen and use the vent pipe only for the basement.
