'S' traps

A day late and a dollar short, but I'm just discovering that 'S' traps are not the going thing.

For work already done that's committed to 'S' traps, if the vent line taps off on a reverse running 'T' just below the trap, any reason to believe that it won't work just fine? Right now, it's only one bathroom that would include a sink and shower with this design. The second bathroom follows, and obviously I'll have to do my homework better on that one.

As usual, any help is greatly appreciated.

David

'S' traps

I see you're in Missouri, so probably don't have any building or plumbing codes to worry about. While S traps have not been legal for a long time, that does't mean they don't work. Try your setup for a while. If it works, fine. If it doesn't, tear it out and use P traps.

'S' traps

S traps will siphon it self dry thus breaking the water seal.

'S' traps

If the last part of the S trap (the part going down into the floor) is larger than the trap than there is less of a chance of getting a vacuum and causing a siphon on the trap. 2 drain pipe with 1.5 S trap.
I have seen a few times where someone put a 8 section of 2 pipe against the S trap to help eliminate the siphon and worked part of the time.
