Rusted, broken bathtub diverter screws

just tried to replace the bathtub diverter and both screws holding the level plate broke off. There is just a little stub of a rusted screw left. Any idea how to extract the screws or is there someother idea?

You could try using some Liquid Wrench, waiting a day, and twisting the remains of the screw out with pliers. More likely you would have to drill the screws out and retap the holes in the flanges.

I have a little kit with two sets of different size screw extractors in it. Costs about $19.95 off the TV, but I bet you could get them at any big box.
The kit has the two sizes with two screw extractor pieces each. One drills a concave hole in the broken off end of the screw, and the other bites into it with the drill in reverse and backs it out neat as a pin. Works sort of like a pipe Easy-Out, but way smaller.
Good luck!

Thanks to you all! Tried the extractor but it broke in the hole. Ended up using a Dremel with an abrassive disk to flatten the screws, and extractor against the brass overflow flange. Then drilled and retapped 1/4-20. Works well now.
