Running water in toilet bowl - can't get it to stop

My toilet is running water into the toilet bowl after the tank fills up. I tried adjusting the float arm by bending it down a bit but that didn't work. I think it might be an issue with the ball cock (refill valve?) because when I push up the mast arm it stops the water from flowing down the refill tube. Even if I just tap the valve a few times seems to do the trick. I can't figure out how to adjust the valve though to get it to stop. There doesn't seem to be any adjustment screws on the outside. Can someone help me out (see attached photo of the valve).

Are there any adjustment that can be made from the outside of the valve that doesn't require removing the valve? I'd like to see if I can do a quick fix myself before I call my landlord.

Thanks!

It's about a $10.00 and 10 min fix to just replace the whole thing with a new Fluid Master valve.
That one's a really old style.
For now just shut off the supply valve.

+1

And bring the old water line that connects the toilet to the shut off valve with you too when you go to the hardware store. Buy a new stainless steel flex line something like this to replace it.

Running water in toilet bowl - can't get it to stop

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't really looking to replace it, just thought I could do a quick adjustment to it. The running water noise doesn't bother me and I don't pay for the water utilities. I only noticed it because the toilet bowl was collecting hard water stains and I finally figured out it was due to the running water.

If I do go ahead and replace it, anything I should watch out for so that a $10 and 10 minute job doesn't turn into something more costly and time consuming??

Not a whole lot to it, just make sure to shut off the water before working on it.
