Roughing the pluming for toilet and shower drain

I've created a thread in off topic in regards to the high estimate for a local plumber to rough in a toilet and shower in a basement (below grade). with everyone's suggestions, i've called some random company from yellowpages and was quoted a price that's almost 40% less. so much so i'm a bit scared of the difference. He'll be in my house this wkd for an final estimate so what type of questions i should ask to see if i'm paying for crappy work?
things i can think of are:
1. how far will he dig into the concrete to fit the U joint??
2. how will he connect to the main pipe (metal) ?
3. how large should the fitting be for that connection?

can you help me with these answers or any additional ones you may ask to ensure you've got the right man for the job?

Didn't bother to read your other thread but ask to see his license, insurance, and references for starters. Will he get inspections?
And whats a U joint?

asked about license and insurance over the phone. however nether contractor have mentioned anything about inspection. is that a major issue or can it be done later? I'm roughing in the lines for a later bathroom install but want to lay down some tiles before it all starts.

you will need it inspected before you fill in the concrete.
