Rookie question- sink drain

I'm remodeling a bathroom and plan to move the sink to an adjacent wall. Is it acceptable to run supply and drain lines (with appropriate slope) through the wall corner, or do I have to go under the floor? I'm reluctant to run through the joists because I will be adding a bath tub that wasn't there earlier.

yes you can do this

Yes, it is permissable, but do not forget about the vent line on the sink piping. It also needs to be re-run.

Thanks. It's a very short run, so I'm assuming I can wet vent the sink (<3 ft.).

wet venting is not permitted by code in most areas. Maybe in the south where everything is okay.

I'm just asking out of couriousity but don't you get so many feet from the sink to the vent? Thanks

Bob & Majakdragon:

I don't see a problem running supply piping around a corner with 90 degree angles, but where I live, you cannot have a 90 degree angle on a drain line because of the resulting difficulty in getting a snake to go around that corner (and to pull the snake out of the piping again). You can have two 45's to make a corner, and that's what's commonly done to turn to vertical. However, this guy wants to embed the 90 in the wall, and so two 45's wouldn't work there.

Unless I'm misunderstanding and the "no 90's" rule only applies to larger diameter drain piping.

DSKUP: I'd check with your local plumbing inspector on this. You don't want to do a bunch of work and then end up having to redo it all.
