rheem water heater and warranty period.

I've been told rheem water heaters come with only 6 year warranty, unlike box store heaters that have 9 year warranty, 12 year, etc. Is this a problem? I've heard many good things about rheem water heaters and I don't know if I should let this discourage me from buying one.

Thanks

Rheem generally makes good stuff. The difference in warranty period has to do with the anode supplied with the heater. Buy a 6 year and put in a Magnesium anode and you have a 12 year heater. You may want to check all the previous posts on Rheem though just to be sure, I seem to recall a problem with one or two specific models.

If you change out the anode ever 3 years you will have a life time heater.

How difficult is it to change out those anodes? Is it something that anyone with a hammer and a dream can do?
