MY that is strange I wonder why they just did not drill a hole on the cold dip tube like a standard hot water tank for vacuum.

The Marathon 85 will cost me $250 more than a comparable A.O. Smith High Efficiency 80 electric.

Just trying to figure out if the Marathon **actually** loses less heat daily than the AO Smith.

It's hard to tell.

From looking at that cutaway in the previous post, the Marathon looks pretty well insulated.

The specs say the Marathon has an EF of .92 while the AO Smith states a .93.

Is it worth paying the Marathon premium?

Have you checked with your utility company about any rebates or tax credits?

Yes I have. Unfortunately, there are none available with this water heater.

For 250 buck difference and a tank that will never leak I would buy one. Your getting some good pricing.
