replacing toilet cut off valve


i am replacing my toilet cut off valve which seems to screw to the copper pipe but when i unscrew it it just spins. ive tried pulling it off but it wont budge.

There are a variety of shut off valves for this application. Post a decent picture and we can instruct you a little easier.

It sounds like a compression fitting valve. Hold the nut and unscrew the valve. You can't get the nut off without cutting the pipe, but you can probably reuse the nut on a new compression valve.

I always do what Just Bill said. Re-use the existing nut and ferrule (brass ring that actually does the sealing) with a new compression fitting valve.
