Replacing Cartridge in mop sink faucet

I have cartridge out but can't remember if the spring and cap rubber washer goes into the hole in bottom of assembly with spinrg in hole and rubber cap washer on top or reverse, washer in hole and rubber cap on top of spring. As we say Down South, HEP.

Dumb or dumber, not sure.

Who's the manufacturer? Can you post a picture of the cartridge/stem?

Don't have my digital camera available at this time. Believe it is a Delta, about 2"-21/2" long, plastic body and brass shaft. Well has a hole in bottom, for water flow I assume and that either the spring with rubber cap on top goes into the hole or the reverse. I am thinking now that the spring goes into the hole and the cartridge compresses the spring and the rubber cap moves across bottom of the cartridge.

What you are describing sounds correct for a delta style faucet. Spring goes in the hole, rubber washer on top, then the cartridge which spins on and off.
