Replace Kitchen Sink Cut-off Valve

I replaced the cut-off valve on the water line, but I am unable to remove the bolt on the copper pipe. There is a little bulge in the pipe that prevents me from removing the bolt. Water is leaking like crazy. How can I remove this bolt and put a new one on?

What bolt? There are no bolts used in plumbing.
Do you mean compression nut?

Sounds like you have copper faucet supply lines and mean the ferrule. No way to get it off but you can cut the supply line to get the old nut off. Then use new copper supply and ferrule or just run a braided supply from the shut off.

Nice picture Hammer lane , it shows someone using teflon tape on compression fittings, and dope where the ferral seals. Not a great thing to be showing DIY's.
Wrong way to be doing it.

Yep---no tape on a compression fitting--the threads are used to pull the ferrule and the bottom lip of the valve together---not holding water--so no tape.

TFE paste is not needed either---

A drop of oil on the threads is OK. I agree no paste on the ferrule. Just grabbed some photos to make sure the poster was referring to what is commonly called a ferrule.
