Replace brass drain in lead pipe

I am remodeling my bathroom and tried to put in my new tub, only to find out the tub drain is about 3" above the concrete floor. I need to lower the tub drain, but the drain is brass and is sweated or glued to the lead pipe. How do I remove the drain from the lead pipe? I was thinking of sawing off the lead pipe, attaching a coupling, and a new drain.

Thanks, any help would be appreciative, as this is my first time replacing a tub drain and dealing with lead pipe.

Replace brass drain in lead pipe

It is lead because the pipe bends easily.

Replace brass drain in lead pipe

If this is in the home you live in, I'd remove all of it and re run it in pvc. you don't want to be making this repair a few years after putting the bathroom back together.
