Replace Boiler coil with hybrid electric hot water heater
I have a boiler with a coil for DHW. I would like to install an electric hot water heater in place of the coil due to inconsistent hot water with the coil and costly to run during the summer. My question is what do I do with the coil in the boiler? I am guessing I can blow all of the water out of the coil and cap the inlet and outlet just in case the boiler ever leaks into the coil. Is this the correct way to deal with the coil? I would rather not use the boiler for DHW at all, since when I replace the boiler in a few years, I will not have a coil included in its replacement.
