Repair 2 small holes in waste drain

I need help regarding how to fix the two holes that I made when I accidentally tried to hang a cabinet from a vertical waste drain pipe (3" black PVC). There is not enough room to cut the section out and add a new piece because the coupler would be too wide and bow out the drywall. Any fool-proof patching method that will last forever (will be behind drywall) and be done by a DIYer? Help!

Put a bigger screw in it and use silicone.

is that the vent part of the system or is that an actual line waste goes down? if its a waste line and not a vent line, I wouldn't put anything in it that that sticks into the pipe that could cause a jam point and clog the line, if its a vent that isn't as big of an issue

It is the actual waste line. I did a temporary fix with silicone caulk in the hole, then Gorilla tape over that, but would like a more sure long term fix before I close the wall again. Agree on the concern with putting another screw in it, although I like the spirit of the suggestion - any other thoughts?

Have seen it, but haven't used it before - just "paint" it on? Cover with something after? More Gorilla tape?

JB Weld is a two part epoxy putty. You mix equal parts and kneed it into a ball not unlike modeling clay. A ball the size of a glass marble would work, kinda like a wad of chewed gum if you will. Then simply press it into the hole. It should weld itself to the pipe and in a short time will harden like a rock.

There is a similar product made for plumbing work but I'm not sure what it is called. It may fuse better to the plastic. One of these guys here should know what product I'm talking about.

Fabricate a tapered PVC plug, apply PVC primer on both the plug and the hole, and use PVC heavy body cement to solvent weld the plug in the pipe.

I'm surprised at you Bud
Judging by other comments, I thought you had a vendetta against silicone

I've actually used a small piece of pipe or fitting hub slightly larger then the hole and glued it over the hole- like a patch. But then I learned how to plumb. Now I use ABS couplings or no hubs and tell the rocker to shave his board....

Silicone has its uses. Buried inside of a wall never to be seen again is one of them.

Appreciate the suggestions - leaning toward JB Weld, but wondering if it would hold "forever"? No pressure in the pipe so i guess as long as its waterproof, it should, right? Plug sounds good, but not sure how to fabricate a tiny plug out of pvc.....Any other thoughts before I give it a shot?

It's true when you say there's no pressure. It's also true that the waste water doesn't free fall down the pipe. For the most part it swirls around the outside as it travels down. Be sure your fix is water tight and not sticking through the pipe wall.

Went with underwater epoxy. $5 from Lowes, put 2 layers on to fill the hole, it hardened like a rock and seems like it will last forever (or at least as long as we live here). Thanks for all the thoughts and ideas!
