removing shower doors on a tub

We just closed on a new house and the first thing I want to do is remove the shower doors in our kids bathroom. How can I do this? Will I have to make any repairs to the tub itself?

first lift the door vertical and either swing the bottom out of the track or pop the rollers on top out of the track. Then remove all screws holding frame work, cut all caulking with utility knife or multi-tool if you have one. Fill all holes with a tub and shower caulk that matches tub. Try to sell old doors on local craig's list use money to buy pizza for family and you are the hero!!

Sides tracks usually have 2-3 screws in the wall, top track usually simply lifts out, bottom track is held in place only with caulk. The screws in the wall usually have plastic mollies, pull them out and fill as suggested above.

Some tub doors have a plastic or aluminum clip (bottom track--center ) that need to be removed before the doors can be lifted out.---Two Philips head screws.

Fairly simple job---Mike---

The bottom track over the curb of the tub won't have any fasteners in it, but removing the caulk can easily mar the surface--even if it's glazed cast iron.

Hard water deposits can be very difficult to remove without chipping the surface of the tub as well.

Only use plastic scrapers to remove the caulk and you'll have a better chance of not scarring the tub. Hard water deposits can be removed with a little diluted CLR and some patience.

DON'T PICK UP THAT METAL PUTTY KNIFE.

All the other suggestions are correct. But removing the silicone caulk can be a pain. Some people never get it all off! I have found only one product so far that works well. Still time consuming! It is "Silicone be gone" made by DAP. I find it at most local hardware or building supply stores. Just follow the directions.
