removing bathtub faucet diverter

I have a belanger 3 knob bathtub faucet. There's a hot and cold knob and the third knob is the diverter for the shower.

I want to remove the diverter to either replace entirely or just replace the rubber washer. I'm having the hardest time removing it.

This is what the diverter looks like.

The next step, I removed the bolt that should be holding the diverter in place.

What is the next step? Do I just pull?

I tried getting a pair of pliers to pull and a hammer to knock the diverter loose but it doesn't budge at all.

It should rotate out just like the other valvestems. That is exactly what it is, a valve just like the other two.

Lefty loosey.

Lefty Loosey did indeed help. I used the plastic head to turn the diverter out.

It is not really held in by threads, but the turning of the diverter help loosen it out.

I replaced with a new one and I simply pushed it directly into the hole.

Good for you! Why are you posting at 3.30 in the a.m.? Get some sleep.

This is my EAXCT same setup and mine stopped working a few days ago... Stays on shower all the time with only a trickle of water coming from the bath spout. Were you able to just replace a rubber washer and get it to work again???

In theory that should work and it's much cheaper than what I did. However, I didn't do that.

I just brought the old diverter to my local plumbing shop (including the plastic knob) and asked them for a replacement.
