Removed plunger type drain assembly but bathtub still wont drain. Please help

Hi there, thanks for reading my post! I hope someone here can help me.

My bathtub is not draining at all so I removed the overflow plate and the linkage and plunger drain assembly. It is still not draining. I used a small auger to try to push through and see if there was a clog and it does feel like something is stuck?

My understanding of a plunger style drain is that the plunger slides up and down the drain and seals the drain opening?

So if I have removed the linkage and plunger what could be blocking my bathtub from draining?

Thanks again!

try plungeing the hell out of it
dont forget to seal the overflow or all plunged air will escape there

You are most likely running into the trap(drum or bell type if an older house), it is nearly impossible to get a snake thru them, even when they are working. That is your likely clog spot. As suggested, plunging may do the job. I prefer not to recommend chemicals, because if they don't work, someone has to deal with them. Ideally, that trap should be replaced.

I had actually tried plunging it before the auger. It is an old house so it must be the trap! Thank you!
