Removal of tub with delta roman spout, faucets
I am in the process of remodeling our master bath with a roman tub. The tub needs to be removed. Faucets came off fine but I can not figure out how tp remove the spout nipple. The home was built in 98.
|
Can you post a picture of the stub? Most have a top nut like the faucets---
|
Are you talking about the spout itself?
|
Sorry, no pic. The nipple has threads on two sides and is flat on the other two. The nipple sits on a washer which covers the hole in the tub which the assembly sits in. I think I am going to have to break into the frame surrounding the tub.

Not the spout that came off easy. Kane co. Used to live in St. Char
Les. |
Have you put a wrench on the flats and tried to unscrew it?
|
I'm right off the river just north of the ground cover place
|
No, am concerned that might damage rough in. Was told there might be a lock nut underneath that needs to be removed before it can be unscrewed. I am trying to save the rough in assembly.
|
Where is ground cover place? We were out in the Windings late 70 early 80
|
east of the river---from Macks Silver Pheasant (now closed) north to Gilbert--(the Railroad and the old Quonset hut) where Dunham and 25 merge ---You would not recognize the area any more--Lots of new roads--two new bridges----one at Redgate road where the Little Woods School used to sit--another north of there parallel to the Great Nothern RR bridge---
About your faucet spout stub---are you sure the washer is not a nut threaded onto the threaded stub? |
Ol mike, thanks for the chat. Sounds like a lot of changes out there. We are in fla now no snow! That was my thought at first. I was able to turn the washer but it did not loosen and there are no grips like the faucets have on their washers. I don't know about you but these little projects always turn into more than anticipated.

I spend a lot of time doing plumbing---and still run into goofy delays---
If the tub and faucet are going to be junked---You may wish to cut an access and see whats going on from below--- |
You definitely don't want to try spinning that spout, especially with the delta R.I. valve.....
You're going to need access below. http://imagethumbnails.milo.com/008/...83_trimmed.jpg Hope that helps you. |
