Removable cap on water line?

There is a capped off copper water pipe stub running vertically from basement ceiling level. The previous owner had planned to install a sink. I need to make a repair on the line so need to drain the water for soldering.

Would it be possible to use some sort of removable cap in place of a soldered one at the end of the stub to facilitate future draining? Is using a copper threaded adapter with a brass cap or plug acceptable?

Thanks!

Buy a compression ball valve like the ones under your sink----use that---

Brass is compatible with copper and they do make sweat-to-thread fittings. But oh'mike's solution is way easier and probably costs the same.
