hi
In our 2nd floor bathroom, the shower walls were failing... tiles were loose... so we're redoing the shower. We just completed the wall demolition.
This shower shares a wall with a tub in an adjacent bathroom. That side of the tub has a shelf to put bottles built into the wall. When we demo'ed the shower, we discovered there's dead space between the bathrooms and the tub shelf framing actually extends well beyond the other bathroom and into this shower's area.
We're debating moving the plumbing for the shower head to the opposite wall and expanding the shower area to include this hidden shelf. Would make the shower much more roomy and nice
Then there's the mystery pipe. It's a 1.5" PVC pipe. It runs from the first floor (where our 1/2 bath is) up through this dead space and towards the attic, it makes a 90 degree turn.
What is the pvc for? Is it a vent for plumbing or something else? Would it be a problem, functionally speaking, to move the PVC bend to beneath the shelf?
thanks for your help!
