remodeling bathroom

I am remodeling a bathroom original 1940 which the main drain line is made of cast Iron and the toilet's water closet looks like lead. The bathtub and sink plumbing looks like galvanized. I would like to keep the cast Iron line it looks fine. Would you recommend putting in a new water closet and if so how would I attach it to the y pipe. The copper piping looks, would it be stupid to keep it.

Has anyone heard of using clear hoses for water lines....Hot & cold

You mean the pipe that runs to the toilet, this is called a lead bend, you want to replace this with abs or pvc pipe, new elbow and new closet flange, the way to do this is, right where the lead pipe enters the cast pipe you want to cut at least 3" from the hub of that fitting, this part of the lead bend is solid unlike the lead up to the toilet, by using a fernco coupling you can make the transition to the plastic pipe.

What do you mean: The copper pipe looks, would it be stupid to keep it.?

Clear hoses? You mean pex pipe?

Sorry I didn't finish my sentence. I meant since the house is old would it be wise to replace the copper piping..it seems ok ..no leaks that I can tell. The clear pipe is called pipex...can you connect that to copper.

Ok, So I cut the lead bed and attach a fern coup...will that be ok since it's in the ceiling over the kitchen.

Should be no problem, never heard of pipex, so I can say you can or you can't.

No problem leaving it as copper pipe.

If 'pipex' is not code approved in your area then I don't recommend using it.

If your copper water lines have been there since 1940, why would you want to change them to 'pipex'?
