Relocating a washing machine.
Hello everyone this is my first post on this site. My house was built in the fifties with the washer in the kitchen. I would like to move the washer out to the garage next to my dryer, but being that i'm not a plumber I'm not sure the best approach. The house is on a slab, so there is no access to the plumbing and the main drain is in the middle of the front yard between two old, big trees with tons of roots. I'd also have to cut the drive way in order to run a new line to the drain. Much more work then I'd like to dedicate to this project. I would like to extend the copper water supply lines up through the wall across the attic about 20' and down to the new location. For the drain I was thinking about welding up a stainless steel tub to fit behind the washer, running the washers drain in to it, and putting a sump pump in it to pump the water up and across the attic to the original drain. I work as a maintenance mechanic in a dairy plant, so I'm familiar with copper, pvc, and pretty much everything else, but I'm not sure about the drain issue. Does anyone have any ideas on this.

I guess it could work that way, kind of a poor mans way of doing it, just make sure you use a check valve just off of the sump to keep the backflow of water down to the min.

why not just buy a laundry pump? Check out Liberty pump and Zoeller pump, they have them all set up in a basin for you.

thats what i was looking for. I'm not a plumber, so any ideas from people more experienced than me are appreciated. My original idea was just from sitting back and thinking about a solution to my problem. I didn't have any guidance, suggestions, nor had I done any reading. I'm going to check out the laundry pumps now. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

what would be the best way to run the drain line coming from the laundry pump? Would up through the attic and then back down into the existing washer drain be the best bet. Seems like that would be the easiest. I havn't opened up the wall to look at the laundry drain yet, but I imagine it's already vented outside. I liked the look of the drainosaur unit from little giant i believe.
