Re-use black Iron

I am getting ready to buy the new pipe for my re-install of my gas pipe. Should I clean the ends and re-use the 1" and 1/2" black iron in the areas that I can, or should I just buy everything brand new?

Would the incorrect running thread connectors that were on my old system have damaged the threads on the old pipes?

Thanks
Jamie

Not likely. The threads are the same size, they're just not tapered.

If you can clean up the threads of the old pipe, I don't know why you couldn't re-use it if you wanted to.

Cool. Thanks. There are a few pieces that are cut to size that I will attempt to save.

Grr... Home Depot has all the larger pipe sizes, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, etc to 2", but they do not carry or sell and reducers to go back down to 1 inch. So Have to special order that from somewhere.....
