Quick Fix for Old Wood Shower

I'm in the process of purchasing my first home, which has a wooden shower stall. The walls are wood (and have considerable water stains, but according to the inspector no mold or decay), with tile and grout on the horizontal surface surrounding the bathtub.

I plan to rip it all out and replace it with a new stall within the first year, but I'm looking for any quick-fix tips to prevent additional moisture damage and possibly give a temporary cosmetic facelift while I save for the bigger project. I'm willing to spend some money on the temporary fix, but not looking to spend hundreds. Any ideas are appreciated!
