PVC pipe

I always do. Makes a better joint and some jurisdictions require it's use per code.

It is recommended, but a lot of plumbers don't use primer for joints in low flow applications such as condensate drain lines

PVC pipe

Local code requires the use of primer.

EXCEPTION :

PVC DWV pipe and fittings MAY BE joined without the use of a primer.

EXCEPTION to the EXCEPTION: Be sure to check with your plumbing inspector!
Mine said I HAD to use primer on all of my drain work!
Imagine my anger had I not used primer and had to tear it all apart!!! CHECK FIRST!!!
