I think he may be getting you on the temp rating. CPVC is rated for hot water. PVC isn't. Here we have to use CPVC for T&P

I _HAVE_ 3/4" cpvc... he said it has to be 'gold'. Can you quote code #s on this one so I can ask him?

Pvc gold???

i think it was said earlier, but flowguard gold is just a brand name of CPVC. All CPVC has a gold/cream color, so if you have cpvc on it you'll be fine. if he wants a certain brand, you'll have to ask him for that code section. as for my code sections, 604.1 deals with materials, and 608.5 deals with relief valve drains.

Yeah, but when you're as poor as we are..... a couple bucks means a lot!
I'm sure he'll be OK with cpvc "unbranded" if I can quote UPC. Maybe that's the most common brand he sees?

all that the inspector would be able to say about what you have installed is that your stuff isn't listed like floguard is. in my code book cpvc is listed as ASTM D-2846-97. it'll say on the pipe what the listing requirements are. show the inspector and he won't be able to say a thing. googling your lat/long put you somewhere in michigan?? which i don't believe use the upc, so code references from me probably won't mean anything, but listing #'s i believe are the same

The inspector can kinda say anything he wants. Don't want him snooping around too much. Just comply and that's all there is to it. Think about the issue it's over a stupid little T/P line discharge time for Danger to just DO IT.

he is trying but DM complying with the inspectors requirement is like you using a flibbergast to get to work. If it doesn't exist, you just can't do it.

I HAVE to comply... I want my darn green stickers and then the inspectors to GO AWAY! LOL
THEN I can get to finishing all the little things like trim and baseboards that take time but don't need to be INSPECTED!
I just needed to know if he just recognized that brand as cpvc and just calls it that or if any brand cpvc will do.
He chided me on calling the bathroom sinks bathroom sinks and the toilets toilets!!!
