Pump on Icemaker

I am looking at a new icemaker for my home. I see that some units have a pump and some say "gravity." What is the difference. Also, how do I discover which type I have now.

Thanks.

Pump on Icemaker

It's not for the water....

Some ice makers are down below...if you have a bottom freezer...hence, there has to be a way to get the ice up to the door at the proper level for the user....so it needs a 'pump' or some type of mechanism to bring it up.

I would be inclined to think that it's just something else to break....
