Pull Down Diverter won't retract...

I've got this faucet (Delta 1400 series) on a tub only setup, but that has a pull-down diverter on it. The other day my wife was cleaning it and she pulled down the pulldown diverter. There is no shower connected so nothing happened. The water from the tub faucet just stopped coming out. Now I can't get it to retract so the tub faucet will work again. Usually it just pops back after turning the water off, but it won't pop back this time. Any help on getting it to pop back up would be great! Thanks!

Just a Guess,....

Shut off the branch going to the faucet,+ drain it, relieveing the pressure against it.....
