Public Septic

Correct me if I'm wrong:

Public Sewer: Sewer services provided by the city/cty

Septic: You own and maintain the septic system

Public Septic: ? Is this a septic field owned and maintained by the city/cty?

Sounds right to me, why do you ask?

Considering a new house. Prefer public sewer and water service since they don't require maintainenance or have any restrictions (ie. no well, and no septic).

Here in washington there are a few courtesy line's around. It takes the waste from the neighborhood and goes out to the real city sewer. Here the people who are connected to it are responsible to maintain it. They can have manhole's and large runs just like a city sewer line. I worked with a guy from denver who said they are common there to.
