protruding shower drain and supply pipe

My worker built a custom shower pan for a shower I installed on my second floor. He didnt make it high enough and now the PVC drain pipe is sticking out about a 1/4" (or less) above the shower base. I dont know how to cut it down so that it is below the floor of the shower base. Bought a mini hacksaw but couldnt get down there low enough.

I was thinking about getting a sander and just trying to sand it down. I drilled a couple bore holes with a drill and managed to get some of the PVC off. I have easy access to the ceiling below the shower and could theoretically cut out the drain from below and replace it with a shorter piece of PVC (I really want to avoid that though). Anyone had this problem? Anyone know how to fix?

Also, my supply lines are sticking out of the wall too far and when I put the showerhead on you can still see some of the copper pipe poking out. Anyone ever had this problem and know a quick fix?

I am not really familiar with a shower drain but if I understand you correctly, you can simply cut back the drain and all will be well?

Plumbers often use a rotary cutter that is chucked up in a drill and simply held against the pipe (on the inside) and the rotary action cuts the pipe.

would this do you any good?



If so, look for an internal pipe cutter
