Proper grounding technique for trac pipe

Had a plumber install trac pipe in a home and did not ground it. Can someone tell me the proper way to ground it, as well as what type of ground wire to use 12? 14?

thanks!

Is this pipe electrically conductive?

If not, did it replace metal pipe which was electrically conductive? If yes, you are best to call an electrician and have him check your entire grounding system.

Proper grounding technique for trac pipe

Code calls for it to be grounded in my region. I have an electrician lined up to do the work, but he's never done this on trac pipe before.

Here are instructions for your electrician...

And main power should be off when working on ground wires. Also protective rubber gloves should be used. Pipes can be energized by faulty equipment at a neighbor's house. I would use large #10 copper ground wire (get out your checkbook!). (Best to check with your local electrical inspector's office for bonding requirements and ground wire sizes.)

And all the other grounds on the plumbing should be checked. Best is if there are two ground rods at the main electrical service placed 6 ft. apart.
