Problem with Oil Boiler :(

Hello folks,

I am having a problem with my boiler. It ran out of oil, so I got an emergency oil can and put it into the tank. It would not fire up so I pressed the reset button which then made it fire up but cut out after 20 seconds.

I have then tried bleeding the boiler..I see in videos etc. that it should spew out loads but it only seems to give a couple of drops out. I tried resetting literally 30+ times, but this only led to the same result.

Anyone have any ideas? Could it be that 25 litres or so from the emergency can isnt enough to get it running again?

- Thanks.

Ayuh,... My guess is, the filter is plugged with crud, or you're not bleeding it right...

Problem with Oil Boiler :(

Possible causes

1 - Not opening the bleeder enough or long enough. Long lines can take a couple tries

2 - Plugged oil filter
3 - Plugged oil line
4 - Plugged pump strainer
5 - tank valve shut off
6 - burner valve shut off
7 - pump coupling slipping or broken

8 - not enough oil in the tank
9 - bad oil pump

Start troubleshooting by getting the tank at least 1/2 filled then change the filter, then fire it up and open the bleed line. Go from there. Do not keep resetting it by the red reset it will blowup when it does fire. You may be filling the fire box up with oil.
