pressuretrol high pressure problem

Hello, I have a three apartment (three floors) building. My gas powered boiler keeps shutting off because of what I believe is a pressure problem.

The pressuretrol is set at 10psi and I have the thermostat set at 76 degrees.

What is happening is that as soon as it fires up the pressure gauge keeps keeps going up until it gets to about 15psi and powers off, before reaching the desired temperature.

After a little while, by manually pressing the reset button on the pressuretrol, the power comes back on and I am able to restart it for another 20 minutes and then the same thing happens again.

Any ideas?

pressuretrol high pressure problem

Pressure might be set a bit too low for a 3 storey building. And if the pressure climbs like that, I'd guess your expansion tank is in need of repair or replacement.
