Prepping for shower pan questions...

Prepping for a shower pan liner where there once was a small fiberglass shower stall.

1. After I install the ABS/PVC adapter, and the shower drain, what Quikrete product do you guys think would be best to fill the gaping hole surrounding the pipe?

There's a 8" x 8" hole. Slab is 4" thick. Hole is 7" deep.

2. After that task is done, I'll need to do a layer of bedding mud for a pre-slope.

Thoughts on how to ensure that the bedding mud bonds to the raw concrete slab? Or should that not be a concern.

FWIW:

There will be a layer of plastic put up on the walls prior to the Durock. The piece sitting there is just sitting there...

Prepping for shower pan questions...

How to build a shower - Building a shower pan with pre-sloped mortar bed, liner and curb.

Any type of concrete or mortar will do to pack the hole---I suggest that you pack that with deck mud when you do the preslope---

I would also recommend skipping the plastic vapor barrier and applying a paint on surface membrane
like Red Guard by Custom or Hydroban by Latacrete.
