Power vented water heater, powered by a generator.

We recently installed a power vented water heater, that is being powered by a generator, because it is in a cabin with no other power available.
We can not get it to run, because an error code comes up saying it isn't grounded properly. We have tried a few different things to ground it, with no luck.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

What brand and model---I don't have an answer for you but one of the plumbers might have run into that same issue.

Here is some info to determine if it is a floating or bonded Neutral on the genset. http://members.rennlist.org/warren/gt5000c.html

Best solution is to return it and install a plain vanilla WH.

Of course there is always the off the grid solutions like solar, or wood fired boiler, that heats water up in a worm, that circulates back to the cabin storage tank. Or use a 100 gallon propane tank.
