Powder room venting
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all,

I live in an old house with a single bath on the main floor. I think the plumbing was last updated in the mid-70s. I would like to install a powder room on the second storey. The main stack does not run up through the roof; it stops in the basement and is vented out the side of the foundation. I have attached an annotated photo in hopes that someone can help me out. My plan was to cut in below the kitchen sink pipe and add a 'y' fitting for a 3" pipe that would go up through the floor and make two 90 degree turns before arriving at the flange. From the flange there would be a 3' horizontal run, a 90 degree elbow and a 10 ft or so vertical run, then a 45 degree elbow to the main pipe. I tried to show this in my photo. I thought to us a Studor type Air Admittance Valve, as I believe this is allowed with toilets in my area. Is this possible? Do I need another vent? Have I got too many bends? Thanks a lot for your expertise.

You will need to vent the new fixtures at the top floor.
I won't ask why there is a 3" vent thru the foundation- it's not right
Do you know what code is used in your town?
