Possible to join PVC drain pipe to old iron pipe?

Is it possible to join a section of PVC drain pipe to old iron drain pipe? I have a leak in a drain pipe, but the vent pipe above is iron and the iron pipe below the leak goes into the concrete, and I don't want to bust it out.

If that is not possible, is it feasible to join no-hub cast iron pipe to old iron drainage pipe? And if so, how firm is that no-hub joint?

Yes there are . You can find the materials at h.d. or lowe's... most of the time I use a fernco fitting

It's been a long time (2004) since I did this type of repair, but I remember getting a rubber connecting piece for just this purpose at Lowes.

You can join most any type of pipes together. Use shielded couplings to remain code compliant. http://www.fernco.com/plumbing/shiel...flex-couplings

My fault for bumping! The thread showed up under another one I was reading, under the heading "Similar Posts." I see that doesn't mean "Current Posts!" Newbie mistake!

Yea. No biggy. Old posts can still be useful. Alot of people don't know about fernco couplings. They're very useful. Good info.
