Plumbing Vent In Basement Laundry Room

I will be making a laundry roomin my basement (plumbing is not my expertise). I have spent quite a bit of time reading codes and plumbing books prior to posting here.

In regards to the venting I am about 4 feet from the "sewer pipe" that goes to the city sewer line.

The image in one of the books does not show a dedicated vent by the sink. From what I have read I should put one in, or does the waste stack act as a sufficent vent?

I don't think that image is legal in any code. The waste stack is not a vent

If what is labeled as waste stack does not have any fixtures draining into it above the San-T for that utility tub, then that setup would suffice as a vent for the utility tub trap

Then the book should have labeled it vent stack
Actually, it's not uncommon to see this layout all over my town- it's way it was done back in the day...

Here is what I know:

1. The sewage pipe in the basement is makes a turn and goes striaght up to the attic
2. The kitchen and first floor bathroom drain into this pipe (at a junction in the basement on the other side of the wye that goes upstairs)
3. The second floor bathroom drains into this pipe through a wye
