Plumbing pitch

I just got off the phone with my township building inspector about the lawn irrigation system I want to install.

He said the plumbing needs to have a shut off valve, a rain sensor, and it has to be properly pitched and drained. I can handle the valve and rain sensor but what is "pitched" supposed to mean? I'm not installing sewer pipes so nothing really needs to drain other than when I winterize it for the season. For a drain, I was just going to use a 1" to 1/2" tee and just leave a PVC plug in it.

If I have to pitch the pipe how much does it have to be pitched?

I even have to have an electrical inspection for the low voltage wiring for the valves... wtf.

Plumbing pitch

i am surprised he does not want a back flow prevent-er.it would be impossible to drain a sprinkler by gravity.maybe he meant having some way to blow the lines out using air pressure to winterize,

Plumbing pitch

Sorry, I forgot to mention that he does want a backflow device but he didn't particularly care what kind and that it didn't need to be tested. Most installers here use PVB

I talked to a licensed plumber here at my work and he said to just put a drain fitting in anywhere I have a low spot in my supply line.

Plumbing pitch

And just to add to the absurdity, my Mother lives in the same town as I and she had an installer with 20 years experience install her system, and none of it was ever inspected unless he greased the right palms.
