I bought a house and first thing I noticed was the rust in all the sinks, bathtub and the boiled egg smell when I turn on the hot water. I bought a GE smartsoftner and it fixed the rust problem some what. I guess I would be happy if I just got rid of that smell but where is it coming from? What steps do I take and what products do I use? Any input would be great. Thanks

Drain about a foot of water out of the water heater. If that doesn't work...I've had to do a complete drain and refill to get rid of the smell.

BTW:o ...don't forget to turn off the feed to the water heater before starting the drain.
