plumbing confusion
 
im converting a two story house into , two apts up n down . i want to split the water , for two supperate bills . how can i do that ?

Doesn't 2 separate bills equate to 2 separate meters?

Get the city or water utility to install a 2nd water meter.

Connect all the 2nd floor plumbing to the new water line.

Install a water heater upstairs and connect all the 2nd floor hot water lines to that water heater.

And shall I say much easier said than done!

And you have been to zoning and the building dept. to talk this plan over right?
Is there a septic or city sewer?
Your also facing a major rewiring job also.

There are pretty strict fire codes when you start sub-dividing residences as well (esp. between the units).

Are you adding more plumbing fixtures? Is your current service sized for the new fixture count?

Hire a professional plumber.

1st get all your plans togeother .meet with city officials get the ok from them ... to continue....meet with professional people //hvac...plumber..electrician.. etc..see if they see any majors problems with what you want to do.....we here are limited.....
