Plumbing code, glycol, and solar hot water

I'm putting in a solar hot water system. In my state, I am NOT allowed to do any plumbing that connects to city water or sewer.

Well, I got to thinking. My solar system runs a closed glycol loop, which is NOT connected to city water (has no direct water make-up to city water either). Am I correct to say that I can do the glycol loop myself since none of it connects to city water, and then get a plumber to hook my tank into the city lines?

Check with your Building Inspection Department for local code, rules, etc. Better safe than sorry when dealing with properly permitted and inspected work vs. having to hire it done over when you sell the property later.
