plumbing

my second floor shower also drains directly into a 90 degree fitting, with no trap all the way to the main drain that runs to the second floor. and i notice no vent pipe off the shower drain also.So I'm assuming that is why I smell sewage? The problem i face is can i come 6-10inches off my shower drain and then trap it?Reason being is that i can't access it till that point. Will that fix the smell and should i vent it?

I don't know if this is a continuation of another thread but, at the very least you need to have a trap on the shower drain. It's preferrable to have the trap under the drain so there aren't so many bends in the event that it needs to be cleaned out. Why can't you access it?

I could if i cut out drywall and raise flooring above it.I didnt know if adding the trap after 10'' away from showerdrain made much difference?Cause from that point I can access it in dead space area.
