Please describe exactly side sewer TEST

Hi - I paid for a permit to do side sewer and I think I know how to do it except I'm not familiar with how the inspector will typically want to do a test. I believe I must install a "test Tee" as close as possible to the city
6" stub at prop. line. Then my neighbor said you put a balloon type thing in there to plug it and using a section of pipe of (____number of feet?)vertical into the cleanout closest to house foundation.
Then fill with water and see if it holds for (______amount of time?)
I plan to use 4" SDR35 gasket pipe until about 3' from the foundation and then join to 4" ABS that comes out of crawl space. Do I join those two different type of pipe with a "fernco" rubber fitting and stainless straps? Or is there another way thats better?

Thanks anyone.

Ten feet of pipe, no time limit, leave it till inspection is done, fernco will be fine for the connection.
