Pilot Light on Water Heater Not Staying Lit
I have a whirllpool Flame Lock gas heater model BFGlF404S3dHOV and it will light at first heat and then the pilot goes out. It will not stay lighted after heating the water.

Water heater
Ive been told that when that happens its because of a bad thermo couple...
|
some other possibilities...
The Pilot orifice could be resticting the pilot flame output enough for the draft created by the main burner to pull the pilot flame away from the thermocouple, which then locks out the pilot. This usually happens after the main burners shut down. The thermocouple is not in it's proper position in relationship to the pilot flame. (Not fully enveloped by the pilot flame) If this unit has flame quard technology, then make sure the air intake into the burner compartment is not covered with dust. Condensation dripping on the pilot. Any water stains below the pilot? |
